SuiteCRM Tools

SuiteCRM (and SugarCRM) is an amazing open source customer relations management (“CRM”) system, but it is also much more than that.

Because of it’s open source design it can serve as a great platform for building rich, web-based, database driven, dynamic applications. I now use it for the admin / back-office portion of nearly all of my projects.

Over the last couple of years I have built quite a few tools to help administrators and developers manage SugarCRM and SuiteCRM installations better.

Really Useful Modules

  • MailChimp Sync
    • Export data from any module to a MailChimp list (or modules to lists).
  • Advanced Reports
    • I simply could not find a reporting module that has the power I wanted to report based on any custom query or even a stored proc – so I built one myself.
    • Output can be HTML, PDF or CSV, with grouping and (sub)totals.
    • It is a work in progress with scheduled reports and charts/graphs coming soon.

Tools for developers

  • Create Relate Subpanel
    • Creates subpanels for related modules that have a relate field – This is much better than allowing SugarCRM to create heavy, bulky and unmanageable many to many relationships.
  • Migrate Custom Fields
    • Migrates stupid custom fields created with Studio to “real” fields defined in the extended vardefs.
  • Fix Bad One To Many
    • Converts a terrible one to many relationship created by Studio or ModuleBuilder as many to many, into a proper one to many relationship with the correct vardefs, layoutdefs and subpanel.

All three tools above are packaged into the same module and you need no programming knowledge to use these tools.

Old SugarForge Projects

  • Edit Logic Hooks
    • Allows admins to create and manage logic hooks without knowing exactly where to place them and how to install them. Rated 5/5 on Sugarforge.
  • Document Thumbnails
    • Generates and displays thumbnails for documents in the documents module.
  • CE Teams
    • Proper teams functionality for SugarCRM Community Edition. (deprecated)
  • Field Level Access Control
    • Field level access control for SugarCRM Community Edition. (deprecated)

Please consider using the donate link at the bottom of each tool if you find any of my tools useful.

Not unto the swift…

The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all.
— Ecclesiates 9:11 (NIV)
